10ml or 30ml: which to pick

The 10 mL vial suits smaller or shorter-term needs. It's the same product as the 30 mL, just less volume. If you use bac water regularly, the 30 mL vial usually costs less per mL. If you use it occasionally, the 10 mL keeps things simple. Both are multi-dose vials with the same 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative, so both behave the same once opened.1

What to check on arrival

The label says not to use the product unless the solution is clear and the seal is intact.2 Check that the lot number and expiry match the certificate of analysis. Check that the vial and seal are undamaged.

Diluent Use & Reconstitution Acknowledgement. bacwaterstar cannot determine the cause of cloudiness, clumping, precipitation, discoloration, or failed reconstitution after this diluent has been mixed with any third-party peptide, compound, powder, vial, or other material. bacwaterstar does not manufacture, test, authenticate, or guarantee the quality or compatibility of any third-party compound used with our products.

From the label: for drug-diluent use only; not for use in neonates; preparations with benzyl alcohol should not be used in epidural or spinal anesthesia.2
